Our story
The story of FloTino Cups all started in 2022 during our Mediterranean summer holidays. Both being passionate about travelling and great coffee, nothing is more exciting to us than to discover new specialty coffee bars and new coffees all over the world, during each of our travels, from short weekend breaks in Amsterdam or Paris, to a more exotic long family escape to Reunion Island.
During our stay we realised there were no real espresso cups available at places we booked. We had good coffee with us, but no decent cups. So, as it would also be a nice holiday souvenir, we went searching for real espresso cups in the Croatian villages but without much success. Finally, during a warm and charming evening in Split, we visited a coffee bar called D16 where we were thrilled about their espresso cups, which were designed by a local designer. We ended up by asking to buy their original espresso cups and take them home.
That lovely evening someone raised the question: “what if we design and sell our very own coffee cups?” and at that moment FloTino Cups was born. It was obvious from the start that our designs will be inspired by our travels and life experiences. After eight months of hard work, patience and perseverance, our first FloTino cup was ready for a first perfect coffee in a perfect cup.
Who we are
FloTino Cups is cofounded by Florence and Martino. We are both passionate about great coffee, delicious pastries and discovering great places and cultures all around the world. We also are both working within finance in our day-to-day job. We found each other and live ever since in Brussels with our 2 wonderful boys.
Florence – cofounder
Born in Wallonia in 1986, Florence is the creative part of FloTino Cups. Her taste for elegance and style make each FloTino cup a unique masterpiece signature of her expressions and creativity. She is passionate about bringing her creations to life and create objects. While starting with a pencil and blank paper, she ends up with drawings and designs that are the beginning of the construction of real-life objects. She is passionately using her creativity once again for FloTino cups, as passionate as it was already the case for our own home furniture and many other personal items and decorations.
Martino – cofounder
Born in Flanders in 1978, Martino is the technical part of FloTino Cups. He is a coffee fanatic and SCA certified coffee roaster who assures the perfect shape and quality for each of our FloTino cups. But he goes further than that. He has followed many barista trainings on subjects like ‘the perfect filter coffee’, ‘latte art’, ‘home barista’, ‘the perfect espresso and the use of espresso machines’… Ever since he started sharing and transmitting his passion for coffee with Florence, they search constantly for the best coffees and coffee bars anywhere they are.
Designed in Brussels
The creation of each FloTino espresso or cappuccino cup starts in Brussels, Belgium. Our designer Florence puts her soul, her life philosophy, her travel experiences and encounters into each of her collections while inspiring elegance, simplicity and authenticity.
Each of our collections is named after one of our most memorable travel moments and experiences. We would like to invite you to be inspired by our collections and make your very own discoveries.
The surface and dimensions each of the cups are identical, however, as each cup is hand decorated with care, there will be slight differences between each of our cups, so each piece is unique and has a sense of individuality.
Limited edition
Each collection of FloTino cups is available in a small 65ml espresso or larger 180ml cappuccino size and is manufactured for a certain number of limited pieces. Once our stock is sold out it won’t be put into production again. The collection is unique. As the shape of each FloTino cup is the same, the idea is to allow you to create your own mix of favourite collections and to cheer up your coffee tasting moment with all those different colours.
Perfect shape
While we give utmost attention for the high-quality materials used for our cups, the shape of each FloTino cup has been thoughtfully curated and designed to allow you the best conditions to contain your coffee and offer you a tasteful and truly enjoyable coffee experience. The inner side of the cup allows a perfect flow while your coffee is poured into your cup, while the cup itself has a thick body to assure your coffee to stay at its best temperature. The edge of each cup offers a smooth and pleasant feeling to make your coffee moment even more immersive.
